Beacon is a top-down shooter with proclaimed Roguelite elements. It seems to have a pretty robust and in depth upgrade system, but i didn´t get far enough into the game to actually experience it. My problem with the game is that the core gameplay just didn´t feel satisfying. The controls felt a bit loose, the objects and characters didn´t have any weight to them, the gunplay wasn´t satisfying. It´s hard to pinpoint why it all felt so drab - but the act of destroying an enemy didn´t trigger my reward system at all. The art design was also incredible uninspired, it felt like the game camouflaged it´s subpar models as an aesthetic choice. The enemies felt like random pieces, put together by various Virtua Fighter 1 body parts, their animations were janky. Maybe there is a good game hidden in here somewhere, maybe i am being unfair to it. But this one just didn´t do it for me. Art: 2/10 Music: 3/10 Gameplay: 3/10 TOTAL: 3/10
